01
Performance

Analysis Takes Too Long

OceanIR typically completes analysis in under 850ms. If you're experiencing delays exceeding 5 seconds, try these solutions:

Check Image Size

Large images (over 10MB) take longer to process. Resize images to under 5MB before uploading.

Recommended

1920x1080 pixels or smaller, JPG format, under 2MB

Verify Internet Connection

Slow upload speeds can delay analysis. Test your connection speed at fast.com. OceanIR requires at least 1Mbps upload speed for optimal performance.

Clear Browser Cache

Cached data can interfere with analysis. Clear your browser cache and refresh the page.

Chrome

Settings → Privacy → Clear browsing data → Cached images and files

02
Display

No Results Displayed After Analysis

If analysis completes but no coordinates or map appears, follow these steps:

Scroll Down

Results display below the upload area. Scroll down to see the interactive map and coordinate information.

Check for Error Messages

Red error notifications appear at the top of the page if analysis fails. Read the error message for specific guidance.

Verify City Selection

You must select a target city before uploading. If no city is selected, analysis won't begin.
03
Map Issues

Map Doesn't Load

The interactive map uses MapBox GL. If the map appears blank or doesn't render:

Enable WebGL

MapBox requires WebGL support. Check if WebGL is enabled in your browser.

Test

Visit get.webgl.org to verify WebGL is working

Disable Browser Extensions

Ad blockers and privacy extensions can interfere with map rendering. Temporarily disable extensions or add bower.site to your allowlist.

Update Your Browser

Ensure you're using a modern browser version. OceanIR requires Chrome 90+, Firefox 88+, Safari 14+, or Edge 90+.
04
Upload

Upload Stuck at 0% or 100%

If the progress bar freezes during upload:

Refresh and Retry

Press F5 (or Cmd+R on Mac) to refresh the page, then upload the image again. Most stuck uploads resolve after a fresh page load.

Check File Format

Ensure your image is in a supported format: JPG, PNG, or WebP. Other formats (TIFF, BMP, GIF) aren't supported.

Convert

Use an online converter to change unsupported formats to JPG

Verify File Isn't Corrupted

Try opening the image in an image viewer. If it won't open or appears broken, the file is corrupted and needs to be re-downloaded or re-exported.
05
Accuracy

Analysis Returns Wrong City

If predictions consistently point to the wrong city or region:

Verify City Model Selection

OceanIR uses city-specific models. If you selected Miami but the image is from New York, results will be inaccurate. Always select the correct city before uploading.

Check Supported Cities

OceanIR currently supports only Miami, New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago. Images from other cities may produce incorrect results.

Outside Coverage

If your image is from an unsupported city, OceanIR won't provide accurate predictions

Review Confidence Score

Low confidence scores (below 50%) indicate uncertain predictions. If the AI isn't confident, the prediction is likely incorrect. Try a different image with clearer visual markers.

Pro Tip

When uncertain which city to select, try analyzing the same image with different city models. The model that returns the highest confidence score is likely correct.
