Supported Image Formats
OceanIR accepts standard image formats commonly used by cameras and smartphones. For best results, upload images in their original format without compression.
JPEG / JPG
Most common format. Recommended for photos from cameras and phones. Supports EXIF metadata which can help with analysis.
PNG
Lossless format ideal for screenshots and images with text. Maintains full quality but may have larger file sizes.
WebP
Modern format with excellent compression. Supported but JPEG is preferred for photos.
File Size & Quality Requirements
File Size Limits
- •Maximum: 10 MB per image
- •Recommended: 2-5 MB for best performance
- •Minimum: 100 KB (very small files may lack detail)
Image Quality
- •Minimum resolution: 800 × 600 pixels
- •Optimal: 1920 × 1080 or higher
- •Avoid heavily compressed or filtered images
Important Note
Images with heavy filters, excessive blur, or extreme compression may reduce analysis accuracy. Original, unedited photos produce the best results.
Best Practices for Image Upload
Use original photos: Upload images directly from your camera or phone without editing. Original EXIF data can improve analysis accuracy.
Clear, well-lit images: Photos taken in good lighting with visible architectural details work best. Avoid nighttime or heavily shadowed images when possible.
Include landmarks: Images with recognizable buildings, street signs, or architectural features improve location precision.
Multiple angles: Upload several photos from different perspectives of the same location for more comprehensive analysis.
What Not to Upload
Screenshots of other apps
Upload the original image, not a screenshot from another application. Screenshots reduce quality and may include unwanted UI elements.
Heavily edited images
Avoid images with artistic filters, heavy color grading, or significant cropping. These modifications can confuse the AI model.
Indoor-only photos
Images taken entirely indoors without visible exterior features or landmarks cannot be accurately geolocated.
